Be Encouraged When Progress Seems Slow

Bible Reading

Colossians 2:1-23

Key Verses

And you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority. - Col 2:10

Having given one's life to Christ, and trusting Him as one's hope of glory, the Holy Spirit bears witness with one's spirit that one is a child of God. This gives us confidence that we have been reconciled with the Father and entitles us to all that Jesus finished for us on the Cross. Irrespective of how long ago we gave our lives to Christ, we continue in Him to grow seeking the lost in continuation of Jesus’ ministry as the Father’s business continues. Even as babies in Christ let us refuse to be intimidated by titles and those who may attempt to Lord themselves over us in our Father’s house – the Church. Whatever our denomination or Church leadership say about us that is contrary to the word of God remains invalid and should not be allowed to discourage our walk with Christ. No matter the tradition, culture or teaching of our congregation, the bible makes it clear that even the Apostle, Bishop and those with other titles have the same claim to Christ Jesus like any saved person in the Church. Let us take a look at what the Holy Spirit says in the book of Hebrews “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ”. -Eph 4:4-7

Our fullness in Christ is more than enough to shake the ground under the roaming feet of the Devil warning him that he can no longer roam without consequences. Jesus said, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”. Mark 16:17-18. Even if we are not seeing signs yet, we know the potential is there. Let us find a place to serve in the Church so that we can sew the seed for these signs to begin to manifest in us. Whether we acknowledge it or not, the Holy Ghost lives in us and we are also led by him. It is time for the Devil to know that he cannot roam our cities without consequences. He is roaming and the rate of unemployment, crime, drug addiction and homelessness have been going up. Through prayers we can bring these numbers down. Just one willing believer in the church standing in the gap for the city can turn things around. We may not be witnessing the level of anointing we desire but we must acknowledge that Jesus, the one who does the work, is the head over every power and authority even in a nation. Progress may be slow, but His promises are yeah and amen. Whatever He says we can do, we can do and that is the truth. Bro. Peter Akinnubi
